Do you know Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds? — I'm showing my age here! Nick's strange baritone singing voice is definitely an acquired taste and I stayed away until I saw him as one of a bunch of big names singing Leonard Cohen songs at a Sydney tribute show. And then I came across the Red Hand Files. When they show up in my feed I stop scrolling and read, and his latest post made me think of photographers, and what you do. What we do too. Nick invites his fans to ask him questions, and every week or so he picks one to answer. He takes this very seriously. This week someone To View More >>

|  Contents | Next Download the eBook A guide to building a profitable photography business Is this for you?  These pages are for professional photographers, primarily social photographers, by which I mean those who’re paid entirely by the people in their viewfinders. Think family portraits, weddings, babies, kids, pets, events, glamour, boudoir, schools, graduations and so on. This is not the official Queensberry view of the world, just my own. But it lays out the lessons I believe we’ve learned from 50 years listening to successful photographers. ~ Ian To View More >>

Love matte printing and matted albums? If your answer's yes you'll love that our Smooth Matte stock is now available in the Overlay Matted range. We already offer a range of beautiful print options in Overlay Matted, including Silver Halide Lustre and Tintoretto, but we know Smooth Matte will be just as popular. Smooth Matte offers that desirable Fine Art look — but being offset printed it's more affordable and more durable than inkjet printing. (If you'd prefer a textured "water-colour" finish go with the ever-popular Tintoretto.) Smooth Matte is available right now through Workspace. To View More >>

Over the past few weeks we've been working on resources to help support you with your marketing. Today we're launching our first Social Media Marketing Kit.  This first kit includes twelve unique designs for sales promotions. As you can see it's focused on albums and prints, but it's easy to swap out the text and images in Photoshop for your own purposes. Better emails for everyone! Most of us take great care over our “marketing”, like newsletters, special offers, advertising etc, but in a way what tells people the most about us are the little day to day interactions that we barely think about. Like our answerphone messages or our auto-reply email! Workspace sends out lots of automated emails — for example when you share galleries with your clients, when clients receive their digital downloads, or when they purchase products in your shopping cart. They’re a reflection of you — and us — and we want them to look To View More >>

If you build your business on In-Person Sales, you have a huge advantage over competitors who can't — or won't — do the same. Online is great to get your name out there, great to sell prints to friends and family, fantastic for high volume, low price print sales … but, for high-end sales, getting face-to-face with your clients, in your studio, is best. In future posts, we'll talk more about sales strategies. This post is just about the benefits of buying Studio Boxes in bulk, by which we mean carrying your own stock of mats and boxes in To View More >>

When Rosie, from Rosie Wedderburn Photography, alerted us to this outstanding review, we knew we had to share her kind words, and not just because it set us up to feel pretty good about ourselves for the day! It's not like we never get kind feedback, but what struck us about Rosie's is that she's talking about our most "affordable" album, and as you can see it underlines the fact that we don't compromise on quality to hit the price point. Thanks again Rosie, one day we'll see if we can fit you out with a Duo sample! <lol> New Product! Incredible quality photo albums To View More >>

In the past, Queensberry's online designer has never had a cover proofing function and we’re excited to announce that you can now proof plain, embossed, photo front and wrap-around covers. You will be able to see a preview in the designer, where you can adjust photos, change the embossing text and see what the cover will look like with your album. Your clients too will be able to see the cover using Queensberry’s fully integrated album proofing. We will be releasing cover motifs, designable and custom canvas covers in the New Year. To see how it works watch the short video below. Thanks,  To View More >>

In my short life I've listened to music played on 7″ and 12″ vinyl records, reel-to-reel tapes, 4-track tapes, 8-track tapes, compact cassettes, CDs, digital audio tapes, DVDs, Blu-ray discs, streaming-music services, and many digital audio formats. With each media came a new player, destined to become outdated and therefore inaccessible. There are lessons in that for photographers… A personal story about media loss, and the pain it causes Earlier this year my wife and I emptied the house where she grew up. We found her childhood box of nearly perfect 45 rpm To View More >>
